Melanie Arons is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a Masters degree in Family Counseling and over 15 years experience working with children, teenagers and adults as a therapist, school counselor and special education teacher.
Ms. Arons specializes in working with children and families struggling with behavioral issues at home and in school; children struggling with anxiety; and with children and adults experiencing life transitions. This specialty includes helping adults and couples overcome depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship issues, addictions, grief, and other difficult transitions. Additionally, Ms. Arons has extensive experience working with children’s life transitions including divorcing parents, death of loved ones, and social/bullying issues. Ms. Arons is a strength-based therapist utilizing solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral and client-centered therapy. To support her interventions with young children, Ms. Arons is trained in the use of play therapy. Most recently, Ms. Arons was an adult and child psychotherapist in a group private practice at Flourish Studios (Chicago). Previously, Ms. Arons was a high school counselor, psychotherapist and teacher working with children diagnosed with learning and behavior disabilities at Jewish Child Family Services (Chicago). Currently, Ms. Arons has established Melanie Arons Counseling and Consulting servicing individuals, couples and families. Heather has been a social worker for 20 years. She enjoys working with individuals ages 4 to 104 and experienced with counseling adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, school refusal, peer relationships, self esteem, and emotional dysregulation. Heather attempts to approach all adolescents and parents within a family systems model. She also has training in marital counseling and enjoy helping couples reconnect again after feeling disconnected for various reasons. Her practice is strengths and relationship based and incorporates mindfulness, CBT, DBT and ACT when appropriate. She provides a supportive and calm approach to help individuals find their strengths and use them to move forward. Heather empowers her clients with new skills to change their negative thoughts, mood and behaviors. She can help you find a path to feeling better and stronger emotionally as an individual as well as in your relationships by allowing you to think in different ways. Emily Iglar is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self-harm behaviors, suicidal thoughts, school refusal, interpersonal conflict, and general life stressors. Emily has experience working with young adults and adults with severe and persistent mental illness at a community health center, facilitating skills/process-oriented groups with young adults and adults, individual therapy, and family therapy. Emily is currently the Associate Director of the Adolescent Program at Compass Health Center.
Emily is a caring, compassionate, and empathetic clinician who takes a strengths-based and client-centered approach to help individuals reach their full potential. Kathryn has experience working in multiple levels of care, including an inpatient psychiatric hospital, emergency room and a partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient program. Kathryn works with children, adolescents, young adults, adults and families. Kathryn specializes in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, grief, anger management, ADHD and behavior dysregulation. She uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She approaches all clients with a warm and empathetic demeanor. Kathryn strives to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where everyone feels comfortable to be vulnerable yet challenged when necessary. Flynn Johnson is an associate marriage and family therapist with a master of science degree from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. She specializes in solution-focused family therapy with children and adolescents. Her goal is to guide her clients through the challenges they face by developing a deeper understanding of themselves and the systems with which they interact. She approaches clients of all ages with warmth, humility, and curiosity by upholding the client as the expert of their lived experiences. Flynn practices the art of psychotherapy with the science of the mind, behavior, and human development. She integrates skills from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) with family systems models of therapy. She has experience at the intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization levels of care treating adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidality, school avoidance, substance use, self-injurious behavior, and risk-taking behavior. She is also trained in attachment-based family therapy, discernment counseling, emotionally-focused couple therapy, internal family systems, and play therapy.
